Hidalgo Legacy
In the state of Hidalgo is the municipality of Tenango de Doria, which stands out thanks to its characteristic and cheerful handmade embroidery.
Tenango embroidery can symbolize the importance of a date, the memory of an event, or the local biodiversity.
Each color is used in relation to the meaning to be embroidered. The first embroideries were only made with red and black threads, which symbolized good and evil. Nowadays, embroideries have had an evolution experimenting with colors that give symbolism to the garment, for example, green represents vegetation, orange represents fire, blue the moon, brown the earth, red the good and the black color evil. Tenango embroidery, originally must be made with cotton threads on a natural fiber textile such as linen, silk or blanket being the most used.
At Legacy Mexican Art we appreciate the valuable legacy of our Mexican roots and culture by collaborating with artisans who love their work and pay special attention to detail, which is why we promote fair and local trade with the indigenous and artisan communities of our country.
Cleaning and care:
The Tenango table runner can be washed by hand and on the reverse side, with Cold Water and Neutral Soap, do not wring or use a dryer.
