The Xoloitzcuintle alebrije represents the belief in pre-Hispanic times that these beautiful dogs were guardians of the spirits and guided the souls of the dead through the difficult path of Mictlán, the city of the dead.

The most important function that the Xoloitzcuintles were believed to fulfill was to help souls pass through a deep and mighty river that crosses the land of the dead.

With the inspiration of the underworld is how this alebrije represented by the Mexican dog Xoloitzcuintle has been made by hand

Enjoy its beautiful colors, hand-painted with the delicacy and skill of the artisan Gerardo Linares, grandson of Pedro Linares, the authentic creator of the alebrijes in Mexico.

Mexican artists and artisans, since authentic alebrijes are made with the papier-mâché technique, also known as cartonería.

Dimensions: Height approx. 30cm

The alebrije is delivered with a certificate of authenticity and is signed by the artist.
